From guarding the goal in St. Louis in 1994 to coaching the next generation of Matadors!
These throwback photos are from a Homecoming weekend game back in 1994, when she was a field hockey goalie.
Years later, she brought that experience to Monta Vista and spent 9 years coaching MV Field Hockey!
We love finding out about the athletic backgrounds of the people who make up our MV staff — especially when their playing days eventually brought them back to the sidelines as a coach!

Before he was teaching art at Monta Vista, Jay Shelton was putting in some serious miles!

The first throwback photo comes from the spring of 1979, when Mr. Shelton ran a 4:42 mile — placing first overall for his team.
We love getting a chance to show our students that our staff members have some athletic history of their own!

Congratulations to former @montavistafb player, Emiliano Rodriguez (class of 25). Emiliano is now the starting punter for Portland State, a division 1 football program. Emiliano also played soccer while at MVHS! Great work, Emiliano!
