Introducing our next May Athlete of the Month, Lelani Laruelle!
From the track to the tennis court, Lelani has put together an incredible high school athletic career. In track, she’s been ranked #1 in California from 2023-2025, placed 4th at State in 2024, and became the 2025 State Champion while also finishing top 10 nationally. This season, she won the CCS Championship in high jump and finished runner-up in long jump before committing to continue her track career at Cal Berkeley. On the tennis court, Lelani helped lead her team to multiple CCS team finishes, while also earning a CCS Doubles Championship in 2024 and runner-up finish in 2025. Congratulations to Lelani on an incredible high school career and best of luck finishing out the track season!
Congratulations to our first May Athlete of the Month, Joaquin Garcia. Joaquin is a senior and captain of the boys volleyball team where he helped them qualify for CCS Open Division. On the court, he’s a force to be reckoned with a season total 87 kills and leading the team with 84 blocks. Joquin knows how to keep his team hyped and install into them the competitive furry which helped them be so succesful this season. Congratulations on an oustanding senior season, Joquin!!
For our April Athlete of the Month we have Sakurako Kobayashi! She has had an awesome season this year! She placed second in a relay at a national competition in Japan and qualified for CCS in the 200 IM, 100 Free, 100 Breaststroke, and relays. One of her favorite parts of swimming is being with her teammates and cheering each other on before races.
HEY MATADORS! COME TO THE RALLY COURT TMR DURING LUNCH TO SEE THE SIGNING OF THESE SENIOR ATHLETES!! we are soo excited to celebrate them and congrats to all!!!
Congratulations to Shiva Kumaraguru, who earned April’s Athlete of the Month with an exceptional performance. He posted a remarkable .451 batting average, meaning he recorded a hit in nearly half of his at-bats, along with an outstanding 1.257 OPS, a measure of both his ability to get on base and hit for power. In addition, he hit 2 home runs and drove in 33 RBIs, showing his impact in producing runs for his team. His combination of consistency, power, and clutch hitting made him one of the most dominant offensive players. Congratulations Shiva on a great junior season!
Hey Matadors!! On April 23rd from 6pm to 7:15pm, we will host our annual Matador Madness event in the MV Rallycourt. This event will allow the incoming freshman class to learn more about all of our athletic programs at MV and will allow them to build connections with their desired sports! We will also be hosting tours around all of our athletic facilities! If you have any questions, feel free to DM @mvathletics or email Mr.Bonacorsi. Go Matadors!! 💜💛
