Congratulations to our third and final October Athlete of the Month, Jillian Yang! She is a 2022 CCS Champion, 2023 League Champion, and two-time NorCal Sectionals Finalist, she’s competed in Singles 1–3 and Doubles 1. Her current record is 8-1—matching the team’s league record this season! Her favorite memory is The Santa Barbara Classic! Congratulations Jillian on a great season!
Introducing October’s Next Athlete of the Month: Chloe Chen
As a setter and opposite hitter on Monta Vista’s Girls Volleyball team, Chloe Chen has been a standout player contributing to the team’s success so far this season. She leads the team with 273 kills and 45 total blocks. Additionally, she has 331 assists, 194 digs, and 43 aces. Chloe has also surpassed the 1000 assists milestone this season. Her leadership and consistent effort has made her a key role on the team that her teammates look up to. Outside of Monta Vista, Chloe is committed to continue her academic and athletic journey at Carnegie Mellon University. Congratulations Chloe on an amazing senior season and this well-earned recognition!
Introducing October’s First Athlete of the Month: Rishika Kothari!
As the starting freshman quarterback on the Girls Varsity Flag Football team, Rishika has led her team to success with a league record of 9-3. She has tallied 1458 passing yards and 27 touchdowns this season so far, with 3 games remaining in the season. But Rishika also plays a key role in the team’s defense at defensive back, recording 17 solo pulls and 6 interceptions, two of those interceptions being pick-sixes. Congratulations to Rishika on an incredible freshman season!

Hey everyone!! We will be hosting a fall sports photo day on Friday, October 17th, during brunch (10:50 am). We will simply just be taking a massive group photo with all of our senior fall athletes.
All senior athletes must be present for this photo and dressed in their purple/home jerseys. We would like to have all senior athletes represented, so your cooperation in making sure everyone is prepared is greatly appreciated.

Introducing September’s Last Athlete of the Month, Kento Murase!
Kento is an 11th grader for Monta Vista’s Cross Country team, has been off to a strong start this season. He opened the year with a personal record of 17:34.2 in the 3-mile at the Lagoon Valley Classic, and followed it up with a new 5K PR of 17:58.2 at the Three Course Challenge. Just days later, he continued his momentum at SCVAL #1 with a 17:49.8, securing one of the team’s top finishes. Kento’s consistent performances and dedication to training have made him a key contributor to Monta Vista’s varsity squad this season. Congratulations Kento!
Introducing September’s Next Athlete of the Month: Monisha Preetham!!
As a standout for Monta Vista’s Field Hockey team, Monisha has been a force on both ends of the field. She has tallied 1 goal and 1 assist, contributing to the team’s offensive push with 14 shots taken. On defense, she has been relentless—racking up 34 steals, 12 clears, and 44 dodges, proving herself as one of the toughest players to get past. Her consistent effort and versatility have made her a key playmaker and a dependable leader for her teammates. Beyond her high school success, Monisha has also committed to continue her athletic and academic journey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Congratulations Monisha on this well-deserved recognition and for making such an impact this season!
Introducing September’s First Athlete of the Month: Grace Schweigert!
As a running back on offense for Monta Vista’s Girls Flag Football team, she has tallied 5 touchdowns, and has led her team’s offensive possessions to many first downs with an average of 13.6 yards per carry and her longest rush of 27 yards. She also dominates the field as a defensive back, averaging 5.2 tackles per game, with a total of 31 tackles this season. Her efforts have kept her team in the running for league champions with their 5:2 record. Congratulations Grace on such an impressive performance in your freshman season!
