Meet Recap

Another close competition for the Matadors,. this time at Santa Teresa Golf Club against the Saratoga Falcons. Faced with a long golf course and good play by Saratoga, the Girls Golf team persevered to post its 3rd best performance of the season statistically. Senior Meg Niu and junior Tiffany Chen attacked the long course off the tee and turned in season-best rounds of 39 and 41 respectively. Senior Flo Yang and freshman Sonny Yiu both shot solid rounds of 48. Rounding out the field were freshman Kate Yiu, who finished up with a 53 and junior Makayla Reid who carded a 55. The Matadors are ready to take on Gunn next Tuesday at Shoreline Golf Links.

Meet Recap

The Matadors hosted the Wildcats on a beautiful fall afternoon at Deep Cliff Golf Course and after 9 holes of solid play on both sides, ended the match in a tie. The Matador golfers posted 5 of 6 rounds in the 30’s: Meg Niu 33, Sonny Yiu 36, Tiff Chen 37, Flo Yang 38, Kate Yiu 39, Christine Park 44. Medalist honors went to Elizabeth Lu of Los Gatos who fired a 2-under 28.

Meet Recap

The Matadors Varsity Girls Golf team has strung together 5 strong performances so far this season, but is still working toward its first win in the competitive De Anza division. They played a close match against Gunn on Thursday at Sunnyvale Muni, but came up short by 7 strokes.. Senior Meg Niu and junior Tiffany Chen led the Matadors with low scores of 39 and 40 respectively. Strong rounds were posted by freshmen twin golfers Kate and Sonny Yiu, both carding 45’s. Seniors Christine Park and Flo Yang rounded out the Matador’s day with scores of 47 and 49. The Matadors next tee-off on Monday 10/2 vs. Los Gatos at Deep Cliff.

Game Recap

Monta Vista Field Hockey falls to Cupertino 0 – 2. Amidst the Pioneer’s offensive possession, MV was able to conduct several plays towards the goal, with seniors Serena Yoo and Devin Pereira sending strong passes that switched the field. Overall, Monta Vista showed good passes and teamwork.

Monta Vista Varisty Field Hockey falls to Los Altos 0-2. The Matadors had good ball possession and recovery, resulting in a deadlock between two teams for the first half. However, despite Los Altos taking the lead in the second half by scoring two goals, MV continued to give full effort and created more offensive opportunities in the end of the game.

Monta Vista Varsity Field Hockey falls to Los Gatos 0-9. Despite the intensive offense push from Los Gatos, the Matadors fought hard. Goalkeepers Isabel Ruiz and Sureena Hukkoo made phenomenal saves, shutting out some of the Wildcats’ efforts to score.
